Person Pulled From 6-Foot-Deep Trench At The Jersey Shore, Officials Say

The person was rescued Monday morning in Point Pleasant Beach as storms were moving in.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — A person was rescued on Monday after getting trapped 6 feet below ground into a trench at a work site in Point Pleasant Beach, officials said.

The fall happened on the east side of town, Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company 2 said.

Authorities did not provide details about how the fall occurred or the victim's identity and condition.

Patch has reached out to the fire department and Point Pleasant Beach Police for additional information.

According to the fire department, all members and responders were safe, with no injuries reported.

In addition to rescuing the fall victim, the fire department's Water Rescue Team also assisted with water rescues in Ocean Township, where authorities were saving citizens from flooded vehicles and homes.

Ocean Township was one of many Monmouth County towns hit hard by heavy rain on Monday, which led to severe flooding throughout the area.

During the heavy downpour, the roof of a local BJ Wholesale Club even partially collapsed.
