We've reached that part of the summer where scattered thunderstorms are a regular possibility at the Jersey Shore, and this weekend is no different.
That said, the July 10-12 weekend is expected to be a bit better, with only a chance of thunderstorms predicted after the torrential rains of the early part of the week.
Here is a look from Patch at the beach forecast as we hit the midpoint of summer, including the latest on rip currents and jellyfish sightings and when the high tides might interfere with your spot on the beach.

THE FORECAST
From the National Weather Service
Friday: A partly cloudy afternoon transitions into a chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight, with a low around 69 degrees.
Saturday: There is a 40 percent chance that there could be rain or thunderstorms after noon. Highs in the upper 70s and a northeast wind is expected. At night, the chance of thunderstorms decreases after about 7 p.m. Low temperature around 70 degrees.
Sunday: Sunshine is expected all day after the rain of the last several days. High in the low 80s during the day, and an overnight low of 69.
Monday-Thursday: Sunny days and mostly clear skies all week with high temperatures climbing above 90 degrees by Thursday. Overnight lows in the mid-70s.

JELLYFISH: Clinging jellyfish have disspated in the back bays and river mouths ... just in time for bay nettles to arrive. The New Jersey Jellyspotters Facebook group has had multiple reports about bay nettles in lagoon areas.
Just in case, bring some white vinegar and some calamine lotion to treat jellyfish stings. Paul Bologna, the jellyfish expert and director of the marine biology program at Montclair State University, offers these tips: Apply white vinegar immediately. This stops any stinging cells that have not fired in the tentacles. Rinse the sting area with the salt water you are in to wash away tentacles. "Do not use bottled water to rinse as osmotic shock will cause stinging cells left behind to fire and continue to sting," he says. Wipe the area clean with a clean towel or cloth. Benadryl or calamine lotion can help with itching, and over-the-counter pain medicines can be used for pain from the stings depending on the severity.
