Barrella Says It's Unlikely He Will Seek Another Mayoral Term

Point Beach Mayor, who was elected as an Independent, did not file to run in primary election.

Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Vincent Barrella said recently it would take something ”really dramatic” for him to consider running for another mayoral term, according to the Coast Star.

Barrella - who will turn 63 in May - ran as an Independent in 2011 and won. He did not file to run in the upcoming June primary as a Republican or a Democrat. His term expires at the end of 2015.

“The last time I ran, I ran as an Independent and that option is still open if I choose to run again, but at this point in time I’d say it’s highly unlikely,” he said.
