A black bear with her three cubs attacked a woman while she was walking a dog outside her New Jersey home, police said.

A black bear with her three cubs attacked a woman walking a dog outside her New Jersey home this week, police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, fell and then kicked the bear as she was attached in the Pleasant Valley Lake area on Monday, according to the Vernon Township Police Department.
The woman had left her house at about 10 a.m. and saw the bear, who charged the woman and caused her to fall backwards, police said.

The woman was hospitalized, but the extent of her injuries was not known, police said.
A neighbor chased the bear back into the woods, police said. State officials were notified about the incident.
