A possible bomb scare has led to evacuations in Point Pleasant Beach, according to reports. The incident turned out to not be a threat, and the "all clear" was given for local people to return to their homes and places of business.

A message was sent to people on the Point Pleasant Beach alert system warned of phone lines being down at police headquarters, but said they returned to service by 10:10 p.m.
The scare may have had an impact on the Jersey Coast Line in the NJ Transit system that runs through Point Pleasant and Bay Head.

NJCL trains 3373 the 8:04pm from Point Pleasant is now up to 95 min. late due to earlier police activity.

Other than that, police offered no specifics. But social media lit up with reports in Point Pleasant Beach:

News12 reporter Jim Murdoch reported that the council meeting and the surrounding area were evacuated after a suspicious device was found.

"Bomb squad called in. No reason to be alarmed right now according to Mayor- all precautions for now in effect," he wrote.
