'Boo At The Boardwalk' On Tap At Jenkinsons This Weekend

Halloween event in Point Pleasant Beach even features a beach maze and underwater pumpkin carving.

You can find the usual Halloween trick or treating at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk’s ”Boo at the Boardwalk” event this weekend.

And you can find other more exotic ways to celebrate the holiday. Think underwater pumpkin carving in the aquarium and a beach maze.

The hours are from 12 p.m. to 4 pm. Dress up in your costumes and trick or treat with your family. The event will also feature free painting and crafts.

The underwater pumpkin carving event is slated for two shows at the aquarium on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The shows require paid admission to the aquarium.

Check-in time for Perky’s Pumpkin Derby - where participants race their decorated pumpkins - gets underway at 12:30 on Saturday and closes at 1:45 p.m.

Race heats begin at 2 p.m.

There are two pumpkin weight categories - under 12 pounds and over 12 pounds.

Rules to live by!

  1. You must utilize a real pumpkin in your design.
  2. All design elements must be family friendly. Keep it PG folks.
  3. The full size of your pumpkin craft may not exceed 18 inches in diameter and 25 lbs in weight.
  4. Wheels must be secured to the pumpkin.
  5. No motorization or fire power, let gravity do the work.

Good to Know

  1. Pumpkins will be racing side by side and therefore a little “bumper car” action may take place during race heats. There will be no penalties for such instances.
  2. Prizes will be awarded to race winners as well as for creativity in design.
  3. There will be two weight classes; under 12 pounds ltotal craft weight and over 12 pounds in total craft weight.
  4. Race divisions and heats will be decided at check in when pumpkin crafts are weighed in.
