2012 Point Pleasant Earth Day - 04/21/2012 - Riverfront Park
The Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission is excited to announce the 2012 Earth Day Celebration will be held at Riverfront Park
Well...this is the first time I have 'blogged' officially. So what I am going to do is shamelessly plug the Environmental Commission's Earth Day event. Hope to see you there.
Point Pleasant To Host Earth Day Celebration at Riverfront Park
The Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission is excited to announce that the 2012 Earth Day Celebration to be held at Riverfront Park is shaping up nicely with nearly 60 exhibitors confirmed. The event is scheduled for April 21st from 12pm to 4pm (raindate is April 22). This is the 9th Earth Day Celebration hosted by the Commission and they are expecting a great turnout. The event showcases vendors of green products/ideas, environmental organizations, and local and small businesses.
There will be rides and games provided by Spacewalk of Ocean County, food provided by Jersey Shore BBQ, Shore Fresh Seafood, and Cool Concessions Ice Cream, and music performed by the Soup Sandwich Band, the Sherman Brothers with Ed Austin and a special performance by Vin-Taze. Other special events include the 'Catwalk' Fundraiser by Point Paws, Warriors of Wrestling Earth Day wrestling event, the Clean Ocean Action Spring Beach Sweeps beach clean up at River and Maxson Ave. (9am to 12:30) as well as many other events.
The theme for this year's 4th and 5th Grade T-shirt poster contest is “Strive to be Mosquito Free”, concentrating on what to do at home to safely control mosquitoes. The focal point for this year's Earth Day theme will be to teach the uses of alternative methods for mosquito control and to stress that 'Mosquito Control Starts at Home'. The Commission will officially present the awards to the winners of the T-shirt contest as well as announce the two recipients of the Commission's scholarships at 12:30.
