Breast Cancer Patients Have Enhanced Access to Breast Surgery Expertise in Ocean and Monmouth Counties
Breast Surgeon Yolanda R. Tammaro, M.D. joins Ocean Medical Center, Meridian Cancer Care

Ocean Medical Center has expanded women’s health and breast cancer surgical programs with the recruitment of Yolanda R. Tammaro, M.D. Dr. Tammaro is fellowship trained and board certified in Breast Surgical Oncology, providing the team at Ocean Medical Center and Meridian Cancer Care with additional expertise and resources for local community members.
Dr. Tammaro works closely with Mark Krasna, M.D., medical director of Meridian Cancer Care, and Denise Johnson-Miller, M.D., FACS, medical director of breast surgery for Meridian Health. Together, the team is expanding and redesigning the delivery of breast cancer services in Ocean and Monmouth counties. Dr. Tammaro practices at Ocean Medical Center in Brick and can be reached at 732-840-3339.
“Dr. Tammaro and the Meridian Cancer Care team take a multi-disciplinary approach to care,” says Dean Lin, president of Ocean Medical Center. “She works closely with radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists to provide seamless, comprehensive care to patients dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis.”

“Our approach with multi-disciplinary care ensures a patient-centered experience, where an entire team of medical experts reaches a consensus before any treatment is delivered. This case review and treatment planning arms patients with their own personal team to help them understand and plan for their cancer diagnosis,” says Dr. Krasna. “Paired with access to clinical trials through Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, we are driving innovation within the breast program of Meridian Cancer Care.”

Dr. Tammaro also works closely with Meridian Cancer Care Nurse Navigators to identify patient needs, assist with coordination of care and education, and connect patients to community resources. Nurse Navigators provide support for breast cancer patients, as well as individuals with other cancer diagnoses.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Boston College, Dr. Tammaro received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and fellowship training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She most recently served as Breast Surgical Oncology Attending at Staten Island University Hospital, has received numerous awards and honors for surgery and clinical excellence, and is published in several medical journals. Tammaro is currently a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, Soroptomist Women’s Society, and the National Organization of Italian American Women.
