National Night Out is designed to help bring neighbors and residents together to get to know each other so neighbors will be more likely to watch out for each other's families, homes and cars.

There have been some examples of residents calling police about suspicious persons or activities that have led to crimes being prevented or information leading to arrests. Community Watch and police are hoping more residents will join Community Watch, contribute to the fundraiser and attend Night Out so there are more residents watching out for each other on a regular basis.

National Night Out will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Community Park, Bridge Avenue and Beaver Dam Road.

The National Night Out event will feature crafts, popcorn, cotton candy, public safety awareness and education and more for the kids, while providing a forum for neighbors to join Community Watch and form local watch groups to increase awareness of crime and drug activity. The Borough police, first aid and fire departments will be doing presentations.
