Coastal Flood Warning In Point Pleasant Beach

Borough officials are urging residents to move vehicles from flood-prone areas.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Point Pleasant Beach residents are being warned to move vehicles to higher locations as a coastal flood warning has been issued for the area on Wednesday afternoon.

Up to 1 foot of inundation over ground level is expected in flood-prone areas near the shore and tidal waterways, according to an advisory from the National Weather Service.

Point Pleasant Beach Emergency Management officials said the warning is in place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, in the hours around high tide, which is expected at about 6 p.m.

Residents who live along flood-prone streets in Point Pleasant Beach can move their vehicles to the New Jersey Transit parking lot. People also are urged to secure their outdoor items that can float, to prevent them from causing damage to any properties.

In addition, there is a high risk of rip currents through Thursday, emergency management officials said, so people should not try to swim in the ocean.
