Dr. Robert C. (Doc Holly) Holly Sr. Of Point Pleasant Dies At 83
Services for longtime Manasquan High School teacher, former president of Point Pleasant Little League slated for Thursday and Friday.

Dr. Robert C. Holly, Sr., (Doc Holly) 83, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Newark to the late Cornelius Holly, Jr. and Mary P. O’Brien Holly, he lived in Point Pleasant for 56 years. Dr. Holly was a retired teacher from Manasquan High School, where he taught history, psychology and English for thirty-six years. Dr. Holly also taught at Mercer County College, Georgian Court and Brookdale Community College.
He was also a communicant of St. Martha’s, where he served as an usher for many years. Robert also led the transformation of the Point Pleasant Little League baseball program as the president, leading to a brand new field, concession stand and announcement tower. He was a jet fighter pilot in the Air Defense Command of the United States Air Force. Robert was a graduate of Monmouth University. He went on to earn his masters from Seton Hall University and a doctorate in education from Rutgers University.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Corneilius, III, Richard, and Eugene Holly; sister, Ruth Lowry; and grandson, Dennis Wayne Holly, Jr. Surviving are his wife, of nearly 59 years, Eleanor E. Foran Holly; sons, Robert C. Holly, Jr. and his wife Shirley, Brian Holly and his wife Barbara, Dennis W. Holly, Sr., Daniel Holly and Partner Scott Vadnais of Biddeford, Maine and daughters, Jane Frank and her husband David, and Donna Holly. Also surviving are his brother, Gerald Holly; and grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Jennifer, Taylor, Brian, Meredith, Kathleen, Colleen, Kristen, David Jr., and Erin. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren Landon, Addison, Samantha and Emerson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., A Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, followed by entombment at Saint Anne Cemetery, Wall.
