Dr. Vincent N. Ferrara Of Point Pleasant Dies At 71

Services for area cardiologist will be held on Thursday and Friday.

Dr. Vincent N. Ferrara, age 71, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Point Pleasant in 1980. He was a self-employed cardiologist in Sea Girt and Brick. He graduated St. John's University School of Pharmacy and the University of Mexico Medical School. He was a member of St. Mary's By the Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant Beach. Dr. Ferrara was passionate about fishing and took every opportunity in his spare time to be out on the water.

Dr. Ferrara was predeceased by his children, Vincent A. Ferrara in 1999 and Crystal Ferrara in 2013, and his sister Dr. Nancy Ferrara. He is survived by his soul mate and best friend Geraldine (Blood) Ferrara; his "grandgirls", Madeline Rose and Harper Mae; his son-in-law Daniel Preece of Point Pleasant; his beloved sister Mary Lou Ferrara of Staten Island, NY; his brother-in-law and buddy Arthur Blood and wife Kathleen of Point Pleasant; sister-in-law Marie Ann (Blood) Lalicato and husband Tom of Hasbrouck Heights; and sister-in-law Cobina Blood of Toms River.

Dr. Ferrara is also survived by loving nieces and nephews; Keith who was like a son to him; Erin, Katie, Thomas, Christopher, and Amanda. Dr. Ferrara will be missed by family, friends, and associates who truly loved him. His family, friends, and co-workers who knew him well will recognize and appreciate the following, "How are you Dr. Ferrara?" I'm miserable! How are you?" None of them has ever met a more laidback and pleasant person.

Visiting hours are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach, followed by interment at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
