Eileen M. Reed Of Point Pleasant Dies At 88

Eileen M. Reed, 88, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2014.

Eileen was born in Jersey City, July 12, 1926 to John and Eileen Sorrell. She and her husband Francis raised their family in West Orange. ,They relocated to Brick after his retirement. Recently, Eileen moved to Point Pleasant to be with her daughter.

For many years, Eileen volunteered her time with the Brick Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed.

Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Reed in 2012 and by her son, Francis Reed in 1968. She is survived by her son, William Reed of Barnegat; by her daughters, Eileen A. Reed of Point Pleasant, Kathleen Funk of West Orange, Constance Hellhake of Cranford, and Anne Melia and her husband Dennis of Brick. Eileen is also survived by her grandchildren, Peter Muscarella, Emily Sule and Jesse Funk, Ryan Funk, Samantha Zanin, Erica Cao, Charles and Keith Hellhake, Dennis and Jeffrey Melia; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at St. Martha’s R.C. Church in Point Pleasant. The interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
