Emil Cola Of Point Pleasant Dies At 81

Emil Cola, 81, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Cliffside Park, , passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at home with his family by his side.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1934, in Naples, Italy. When he was 21 years old, he came to America with his siblings. Soon after coming to the United States, he met and married his wife Dorothy. Emil was a very hardworking union contractor that would do anything for his family. He enjoyed watching football, making people laugh, and spending time with those he loved. He will be greatly missed by all.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Rossi) Cola, who died in 2000. Loving father of Patricia Avon, her husband Kenneth, Dorothy Durkin, her husband Michael, and Emil Cola, Jr., his wife Susan. Cherished grandfather of Danielle McAvinue, her husband Dennis, Kenneth Avon, Jr., Steven Avon, and Emil Cola. Caring great-grandfather of Zoey Avon, Kylie and Logan McAvinue. Beloved companion of Sue Peck.

Friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, N.J. The funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Church Of The Epiphany, 247 Knox Avenue, Cliffside Park.
