Fifteen Short Films Nominated for the 88th Academy Awards(R) to be Screened at The ShowRoom Cinema in Asbury Park

Beginning on January 29, ShowRoom audiences can enjoy the 15 "Oscar Shorts" that earned a 2015 Academy Award nomination

The ShowRoom Cinema of Asbury Park (www.theshowroomap.com), New Jersey’s headquarters for #OscarShorts, congratulates the filmmakers who earned an Academy Award® nomination on January 14. In particular, 15 short films were nominated for an Academy Award® in the categories of Animated Short Film, Documentary Short Film, and Live Action Short Film. These Oscar®-nominated short films will be unveiled at The ShowRoom Cinema from Friday, January 29 through Thursday, February 25, 2016:

According to Founder Mike Sodano, The ShowRoom Cinema will start screening this year’s Oscar® Nominees for Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film on Friday, January 29. Then, during the ShowRoom’s first “Oscar Shorts Day” on Saturday, February 6, The ShowRoom will add the Oscar® Nominees for Documentary Short Film. The ShowRoom will continue running all the #OscarShorts via an ongoing schedule, through Thursday, February 25, 2016.

“Short films are the pinnacle of the ShowRoom experience,” Sodano notes. “The diverse short films that are nominated for an Academy Award® this year offer an engaging view of the filmmakers’ creativity. In a succinct and powerful manner, the short films explore subjects such as honor killings in Pakistan, the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Vietnam veterans, Afghan-Americans, and nuns living in the West Bank. The ShowRoom is honored to bring such cinematic excellence to Asbury Park.”

Located at 707 Cookman Avenue in the heart of the “Art Bloc,” The ShowRoom Cinema is Asbury Park’s art house cinema. Since its founding by Nancy Sabino and Mike Sodano in 2009, The ShowRoom Cinema has screened the finest independent, documentary, and international films and hosted eclectic live events.

#OscarShortsDay on Saturday, February 6 will feature exclusive promotions, raffles, and refreshments at The ShowRoom in addition to all the #OscarShorts that will run back-to-back. Guests will have the opportunity to vote for the short films that they predict will win an Oscar®. They also can be the first to participate in the “Name Theatre 3” contest at The ShowRoom.
