Firearm, High-Capacity Magazines Seized From Point Pleasant Man: PD
Point Pleasant police released the borough's police blotter for April; a prohibited weapon complaint led to the charge, police said.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — A Point Pleasant man is facing weapons charges after police seized a prohibited firearm from his home, police said.
Derek Harkins, 39, was arrested April 5 following an investigation into a report of a borough resident being in possession of a prohibited weapon, Capt. Christopher Leonhardt said. The arrest was included in the department's police blotter report for April.
Police Officer John Jakubiak and Detective David Scalabrini investigated the report and seized a weapon, described by police as "an assault firearm," along with a high-capacity magazine, Leonhardt said.

Harkins was charged with possession of an assault weapon and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, Leonarhardt said. Harkins was served with a complaint summons with a future court date.

On Sunday, April 2, Special Officer II Evan Feldman and Police Officer Ryan Grohowski investigated a report of more than $500 in fraudulent charges to a victim’s credit card. The investigation resulted in charges being signed against Matthew Censullo, 49, of Chapel Hill, NC, for fraudulent use of a credit card. He was served with a complaint summons with a future court date.
On Sunday, April 2, about 5:30 p.m., Police Officer Travis Popiel conducted a motor vehicle stop on Central Avenue near the intersection of Route 88. The driver, Kristin Welker, 41, of Tinton Falls, was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was processed and released in accordance with John’s Law.
On Tuesday, April 11, Police Officer David Ippolito investigated graffiti spray-painted on a vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot. The investigation resulted in a charge of criminal mischief being filed against Ricky Jorge, 25, of Holmdel. He was served with a complaint summons with a future court date.
On Thursday, April 13, about 10:40 p.m., Police Officer Travis Popiel responded to a borough residence regarding multiple calls for a loud party in violation of the noise ordinance. Popiel charged Jennifer Pratt, 51, of Point Pleasant, with violating the borough’s noise ordinance. She was served with a special complaint summons at the scene with a future court date.
On Friday, April 28, about 7:10 p.m., Police Officer Robert Tobias investigated a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 88 and Bridge Avenue. Through his investigation, Tobias arrested the driver of the at-fault vehicle, Melissa Nicholls, 54, of Brick Township, with driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child, Leonhardt said. She was processed at headquarters, and released in accordance with John’s Law.
