Fundraiser For Singer Mike Dalton Set For Idle Hour In Point Pleasant

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Idle Hour restaurant will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, May 21, to help singer-songwriter Mike Dalton of the Mike Dalton Band.

The Idle Hour received approval Monday night at the Point Pleasant Borough Council meeting for extended premises for the fundraiser, which is set for noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the restaurant, 2600 Route 88, Point Pleasant.

Dalton, an icon of the Jersey Shore whose band has performed at dozens of fundraisers for others for more than 30 years, has been battling a serious illness that hospitalized him for three weeks, according to a GoFundMe campaign for him created by a longtime friend.

"As most of you know, Mike has always been the one to support and raise funds for local charities through music," Amy Hariegal, Dalton's friend and a singer in the band, wrote on the GoFundMe. "Mike literally fought for his life for the last 3 weeks and is still in the hospital trying to make a full recovery. It is going to be several more weeks before Mike can play music again."

Point Pleasant Councilman William Borowsky, in voting to approve the extended use of the property for the fundraiser, spoke about Dalton helped raise funds for the Point Pleasant wrestling team, among many other things.

"Mike Dalton has done so much over the years for so many people," Borowsky said. "Now he needs our help."
