George Francis McLane Of Point Pleasant Beach Dies At 77

George Francis McLane, 77, of Point Pleasant Beach passed away on January 15, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ.

George was born November 19, 1938 in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Colette Murphy. He received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his doctorate from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

George began his career at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC and later, after relocating to Point Pleasant Beach, worked as a research scientist at Fort Monmouth Army Base until his retirement in 1998.

George is preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Joseph A. McLane and Francis M. McLane. He is survived by his sister, Colette M. Dolan of West Chester, PA; by his nieces and nephews, Joseph A. McLane, Carolyn Cloetingh, Jennifer S. Condodina, John H. Dolan, Colette M. Wester and Geoffrey F. Dolan; and many grandnieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 am. on Wednesday at St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
