George G. Clevenger Of Point Pleasant Dies At 75

George G. Clevenger, 75, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Friday, March 20, 2015 at his home.

Born in Point Pleasant to the late William and Mabel (Gibb) Clevenger, he was a lifelong resident. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Clevenger worked for Bogan’s Basin, Brielle, Shore Point Distributors, Little Silver, and retired as manager of Aribia Oil, Point Pleasant. Currently, he was a delivery driver for Petal Street Floral Company, Point Pleasant.

He was a member of the Point Pleasant Elks Lodge and was also a member and past president of the Old Guard of Greater Point Pleasant. An avid sports fan, George was a coach for Point Pleasant Recreation and served as past president of the Point Pleasant Boosters. He enjoyed supporting sports games between the Beach and Boro high schools.

Surviving are his beloved wife, of nearly fifty-five years, Joan Wilcox Clevenger; and their three children, Debra Henry and her husband Jeff of Point Pleasant, George R. Clevenger and his wife Mary of Kissimmee, FL and Joy Clevenger of Tavernier, FL. Also surviving are his sister, Barbara J. Sperduti and her husband Joseph; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Aaron, Danielle, Jacklyn, Danny, and Chelsea; two great-grandchildren, Kailei and Haylee; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother, William and sister, Betty.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 24 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 7:30 p.m. a service will be held.
