If you have paint, pesticides or other hazardous items to get rid of, collection dates are coming up. You must register to participate.

OCEAN COUNTY — If you've spent part of your summer sprucing up your home and property with fresh stain and you're not sure what to do with the leftovers, Ocean County is holding hazardous waste collection on two upcoming dates.

There is a collection scheduled for Oct. 8 in Toms River. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at the Fraternal Order of Police, 1791 North Bay Ave., north of Church Road.

You must register in advance to bring items to the hazardous waste collection, and the collection is open only to homeowners, no businesses or commercial waste will be accepted.
