Gregory A. Shannon Of Point Pleasant Dies At 61

Services for Vietnam veteran, longtime Asbury Park Press paginator slated for Friday and Saturday.

Gregory A. Shannon, 61, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, at home.

Born in Orange, he was raised in Neptune, and then lived in Wall Township prior to moving to Point Pleasant in 1994. He worked as a paginator for the Asbury Park Press in Neptune for over 30 years.

Greg graduated Neptune High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Giants and Mets fan. Greg was known for his gardening, his homemade chocolate chip cookies, and growing and drying his jalapeno peppers.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Arthur G. Shannon and his brother, Arthur. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Jaeger) Shannon; his mother and stepfather, Eleanor and John Gregory of Florida; his mother-in-law, Theresa Jaeger of Lakewood; three brothers, Wesley and his wife Pamala of Georgia, Wayne and his wife Karen of Whiting, and Glenn and his wife Judy of Pennsylvania; one sister, Diane Casner and her husband Mark of Wall; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Davis of New York and Sandra Jaeger of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

His memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

Visiting hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
