Harsh Winter Results School Calendar Changes

Blame it on the snow.

The Point Pleasant Board of Education recently voted to adopt a revised calendar for the remainder of the school year, to make up for three days district schools were closed due to inclement weather, spokesperson Jacqueline Goss said.

Good Friday, April 3, was previously to be the start of spring recess. It has since been changed to a half day for students and staff, she said.

The last day of school will be on Friday, June 19, instead of June 17. That means the Memorial Middle School’s 8th-grade promotion ceremony will take place on June 18. Point Pleasant Borough High School’s graduation ceremony will be on June 19, Goss said.

A previous revision to the calendar, following a snow-related school closure in January changed Friday, March 20 from a staff development day to a regular school day.
