FOR PETE’S SAKE INTRODUCES THE JERSEY SHARE TO EXPAND THEIR RESPITE VACATION OFFERINGS!

The Philadelphia-based cancer respite organization’s grassroots effort is aimed at shore homeowners and businesses that have a heart for cancer-stricken families.

Philadelphia, PA – For Pete’s Sake has introduced TheJerseyShare.com, a web site that provides Jersey Shore homeowners and businesses with the information they need to donate their homes and services to benefit adult cancer patients and their loved ones. For over 15 years, the non-profit has provided adult cancer patients with a one week, expense-paid respite vacation to select locations along the East Coast and in the Caribbean. But as patient demand continues to outweigh the supply and availability of vacation homes, the need to have a local option had become evident.

“Right now, we help about 120 families each year but we would help so many more if we could increase our supply of donated vacation homes and services,” says FPS’ CEO and Founder Marci Schankweiler. “We’re calling on our neighbors at the Jersey Shore to open their hearts, homes and businesses so that we can support and change even more lives.”

Playing off the iconic Jersey Shore name, the Jersey Share web site introduces prospective givers to the For Pete’s Sake mission and how they can play a role, including donating a week or even a long weekend at their Jersey Shore vacation home. But the goal of the effort is more than just passing on information.

“We’re truly hoping to create a groundswell of love and goodwill,” says Amber Mercado, FPS’ Marketing Officer. “And the process of getting involved is so easy. Our team takes care of every detail.”

For fifteen years, For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS) has been dedicated to improving the lives of families battling cancer by providing respite vacations to adult cancer patients and their loved ones in safe and secure environments. For Pete’s Sake was established by Marci Bossow Schankweiler in 1999 in memory of her husband, Peter R. Bossow, Jr., whose heroic fifteen-month battle with cancer ended on September 1, 1999.
