POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — If you love decorating your home for the holidays and showing off your lights for the world to see, it's time to enter the Point Pleasant Beach Holiday Lights contest for 2022.

This year the contest will have multiple categories and winners in each category.

The categories are: Classic Holiday, Bold & Bright, and Griswold Crazy. The winner in each category will receive a $50 Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce gift card and a yard sign to display their win proudly.

The family whose home receives the highest overall score will have their name put on a plaque to be displayed at town hall.

This year the homes will be judged in two parts. Recreation Committee members will vote on Dec. 15, and the public will vote as well.

Those who wish to participate in the public voting must register online at ppbreacreation.org.

Show off your holiday spirit by decorating your car, dress in your festive attire, and come out to vote for your favorite house! A map to the houses entered will be provided upon check-in.

Popcorn, hot cocoa, hot dogs, and other snacks will be available for purchase at the bandshell for you to bring with you to enjoy while drive around and vote.

Public voting will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.

Check-in at the Bandshell at Baltimore and Arnold Avenue. There is a $10 fee per car along with a donation of a nonperishable food item to go to a local food bank.

The fee includes a map of houses, a link to vote (which is available and open to all smartphones in the car), and a bag of holiday cheer that includes popcorn, candy canes, and a holiday craft to enjoy on the road while you are voting.

Registration ahead of time for the voting is highly suggested, the committee said.
