How Can A Special Education Parent Group Help You?

The Point Pleasant SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee) Tuesday, October 21st, 7pm

What it the purpose of the SEPAC?

The mission of the Point Pleasant Borough Special Education Parent Advisory Committee is to work toward the understanding, respect, support, safety, and appropriate education for all children with special needs in our community.

Some specific objectives from the mission statement are the following:

• To promote a network of parents of children with special needs and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of concern and interest for children with special needs;

• To provide direct input on the policies, programs, and practices that impact services and supports for children with disabilities and their families;

• To increase the involvement of families of children with special needs in making recommendations on special education policy

Who Should Attend SEPAC Meetings?

• Anyone with a child or student in the PPB school district with different learning needs; be they physical, emotional, or behavioral.

• Anyone with a child or student eligible for or receiving services under an IEP or 504 plan.

Just a reminder - parents, teachers, grandparents and friends (in any community) are all welcome to attend these free meetings. Refreshments will also be served, and we want the evening to be enjoyable and worth your time. Childcare is provided by the PPBHS Student Ambassadors.

Tuesday, November 18th: Skills and Strategies - Dania Bober, BCBA at Ocean Rd and presentation about Mt. Bethel Village supportive living community.

Thursday, February 5th: Caregiver Appreciation Event, The Pt. Pleasant SEPAC committee will treat parents and caregivers to a relaxing evening filled with stress relief and relaxation techniques.

Thursday, March 19th: Organization & Social Skills for Special Learners, Presented by Cheryl Kasper, LCSW,Director of Ocean County Social Skills

Thursday, April 16th: Your Dependent With Special Needs: Making Their Future More Secure, Presented by Donald Brown, Special Needs Planner

Wednesday, May 13th: Awards & Recognition for Parent Volunteers, Elections
