Jack Healey Of Point Pleasant Dies At 73

Jack Healey, 73, of Point Pleasant and formerly of Summit, died on New Year’s Eve from cardiac arrest.

There will be a brief memorial service at his home away from home - The Broadway Bar and Grill in Point Pleasant -from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Jack was a self-made man, loved by many including his immediate family and extended family at the Broadway Bar and Grill. Jack was an exceptional mechanic who was self-taught from the age of 17 when he took a job with the town of New Providence. He later opened his own garage in New Providence at Fischer’s gas station and eventually finished his professional mechanic career at Kent Bus company in Berkeley Heights.

Jack officially retired in 1987 as a mechanic and headed to Point Pleasant on a permanent basis. He started off as a handyman and ended up being a lifelong friend to many in the Point Pleasant area, especially the DeDreux family of Linda, the late Brian, Scott, Brad, and beloved dog “Boo-Boo”.

Jack always had dreams of winning the lottery and played often. A lottery ticket was his customary gift to family and friends. No amount of money would have changed Jack from the man he was, as he never spent money on himself anyway. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous person who would give you the shirt off his back.

Jack is predeceased by his two brothers, William Healey formerly from Marlboro, MA, and Robert Healey formerly from New Providence, NJ. Jack is survived by his two sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Healey) Colangelo of Florham Park, NJ, and Leslie Healey of Marlboro, MA. Jack is the uncle to Robert Healey Jr. of Florham Park, NJ, Steve Healey of New Providence, NJ, Brian Healey of Lowell, MA, and Rob Healey of Matawan, NJ.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township.
