K-9 Loki Mourned By Family, Police, Fans In Point Pleasant Beach
The black German shepherd worked in the department for 8 years as a patrol dog and loved performing at demonstrations for kids.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department is mourning the death of one its retired K-9 unit dogs.
Loki, a German shepherd who was born in the Czech Republic and was donated to the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department by Jeffrey Pompeo, died Sunday "in the arms of his humans, Sgt. Paschal Drew and Melissa Drew (Loki's human mom)," the department said in a Facebook post announcing his death.
Loki served as Drew's K-9 partner from 2013 to 2020, working as a patrol and narcotics canine. He was trained in tracking, obedience, building/open-area searches, narcotics detection and socialization.

"Ask any of the kids that had the pleasure of being in the audience for a K-9 Demonstration performed by K-9 Loki and Sergeant Drew," the department said. "K-9 Loki loved the kids and loved showing off the skills that he was trained to do."
Several photos on the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department's Facebook page show Loki posing with kids after various events, such as a visit with Girl Scouts, and at St. Peter's School.

You can see him on patrol at the Ladies Night Event in downtown Point Pleasant Beach in 2016.
In retirement Loki enjoyed living it up on the couch, playing with his favorite toys and his dog sister Mo.
"We here at the Police Department are saddened by Loki’s passing and wish Sergeant Drew and his family our sincere condolences. Rest Easy Loki, we will take it from here," the department said.
