Jenkinson's is hosting its annual Kite Festival Monday and Tuesday on the beach. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and will include music, games, prizes and, of course, kite flying.
Participants must pay to get on the beach for the festival, which promises "unforgettable special moments."

On Tuesday evening, Point Pleasant will host its National Night Out. The annual event aims to help build a sense of community between police departments and the residents they serve. The event is held at Community Park on Bridge Avenue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes safety and awareness presentations, refreshments and fun for the kids.
Residents are encouraged to "Light It Up" following the presentation - go home, turn on the porch light, and visit with neighbors, then leave the lights on until dawn as a night against crime.
