Man Accused Of Illegally Selling Gun In Point Pleasant: Police
Breaking: Phillip Cancel, 32, of Brick, was arrested following an extensive investigation, police said.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — A Brick Township man is accused of illegally selling a firearm in Point Pleasant after what police described as an extended investigation.
Phillip Cancel, 32, of Brick, was arrested Tuesday by Point Pleasant Detective Joseph Hynes, Point Pleasant Capt. Robert Lokerson said.
Cancel was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of weapons, two counts of third-degree certain persons not to have weapons and a fourth-degree charge of unlawful disposition of a firearm, Lokerson said.

Unlawful disposition of a firearm involves someone giving, selling, trading or otherwise transferring a firearm to another person when neither are federally licensed firearms dealers, according to a federal court website.
The circumstances that prompted the investigation were not immediately released.

Cancel was released on a summons, Lokerson said.
