Man Charged In Multiple Vehicle Burglaries In Point Pleasant

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man has been charged in a series of burglaries in Point Pleasant, according to court records.

Anthony S. Cerchio, 35, was arrested Tuesday by Brick Township police in connection with a series of thefts there, police said.

The investigation in Brick uncovered evidence that connected Cerchio to multiple vehicle burglaries in Point Pleasant Borough, where additional stolen property was recovered, Brick police said.

Point Pleasant police have charged Cerchio with six counts of burglary, according to court records online.

In Brick Cerchio has been charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, receiving stolen property and fencing, police said.

Cerchio was identified after what police said was an extensive investigation into the burglaries on the north side of the township that showed the suspect was a white male in his 30s driving a dark-colored SUV.

With assistance from members of the Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit, and Detective Bureau, investigators executed the search warrant and recovered about $15,000 worth of tools and other property believed to have been stolen during the vehicle burglaries, police said.

He was charged on a summons and released pending further court proceedings, Brick Township police said.
