Man Jumps Off Route 35 Bridge Connecting Point Pleasant Beach

A jumper on the Route 35 bridge survived after leaping from the span on Monday, according to a report.

A jumper on the Route 35 bridge survived after leaping from the span on Monday, according to a report.

First responders at the scene told The Ocean Star that a 38-year-old male jumped off the bridge that connects Point Pleasant Beach and Brielle. The incident happened around 1:20 p.m..

“He was able to walk out of the water under his own power and we transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for an evaluation,” Brian Schilep, captain of the first aid squad, told The Ocean Star.

The bridge was built around 1952 and in 2015, it was dedicated as the Veterans of All Wars Memorial Bridge.
