Man Wanted For Vehicular Homicide Caught In Point Pleasant Beach

One of the officers was hospitalized in a fight after the suspect was caught urinating in public.

A man who was caught urinating in public Thursday got in a fight with Point Pleasant Beach officers, sending one of the cops to the hospital, police said.

During the investigation it was discovered that the suspect was wanted out of Monroe County, Pa. on vehicular homicide charges, police said.

The incident happened at approximately 11:17 a.m. when Cpl. Distelcamp, Cpl. Finn, and Officer Siculietano responded to the TD Bank located at 232 Route 35 south for a report of an intoxicated man urinating in public, police said. Their first names were not provided.

Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the suspect’s description. The suspect, later identified as Brian J. Petix, 46, of Easton Pa., initially provided officers with false information regarding his identification. He also had multiple bottles of shoplifted alcohol, police said.

As officers were placing the suspect under arrest, Petix became combative and began fighting with officers, police said. While gaining control of the suspect, Siculietano was struck in the face and suffered minor injuries. Siculietano was treated at the hospital for his injuries and released.

Petix was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and shoplifting.

Petix was transported to Ocean County Jail on all charges.
