The holy season of Lent has begun. As I said in my previous blog, this is a time of reflection on our own mortality and sinfulness. It is also a time of preparing ourselves for the resurrection of Jesus the Christ into this world and into our lives.
Today I feel resurrected. Monday and Tuesday of this week I was out of town meeting with my conference Board of Ordained Ministry for interviews. This was the last step of a process that can take some time. For me it started when I was certified as a candidate for ministry in 2000. This journey will now end in May with my ordination as an elder in the United Methodist Church after being approved by the Board. Although I've already said so on facebook, I feel compelled to thank everyone who has loved and supported me, prayed for me and challenged me over the last 14 years. I would not be here today without all of you.
So what's next? Next, ministry goes on. I am blessed to be serving a loving and welcoming church. We have so much going on that we want to share with our friends and our community. Right now we are at the beginning of our Lenten series called "Marked by Love." We are looking at the marks in our lives that show our love for God and for our Savior. Please feel welcome to join us on Sunday morning at 8AM or 10AM this week as we look at Prayer as Love. Monday we will be hosting our annual corned beef and cabbage dinner for St. Patrick's day. Call the church office at (732)892-3233 for more information. And next week on March 23 we will be offering a Spring Concert. Come out at 3PM to enjoy the sounds of faith in spring, including the voices of some of the children from our nursery school, the Learning Center. The church is located at 729 Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach.
