Matthew Congilose Of Point Pleasant Dies at 63

Services will be held on Friday and Saturday.

Matthew Congilose, 63, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Ridgefield, NJ passed away on April 6, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

He was the chef and owner of the Yankee Tower Diner in Fairview, NJ before retiring 15 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew's RC Church in Ridgefield before moving to Point Pleasant 2 years ago. Best friend to all who were lucky enough to be a friend, and most were lifelong friends who loved him.

Family was the most important part of his life. He was the patriarch of the entire family, at his happiest when cooking for a gang of friends and family. He will always be remembered and appreciated as the owner of the Yankee Tower Diner, the most generous man with the biggest heart.

He was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Antoinette Congilose. He is survived by his beloved wife Cathy; his step-daughter Gina and Robert Zeidler of Point Pleasant; his step-son Frank and Angelique Romano of Florida, NY; step-son Nicholas Romano of Brick; two granddaughters, Emily Elizabeth Romano and Carlie Rose Zeidler. He is also survived by his sister Camille and Jack Murray, his niece Michele and Scott Clayton, his nephew Marc and Vanessa Murray, his grandnephew Jake and grandnieces Chelsea and Jillian Murray all of Highland Mills, NY.

Viewing hours will be held on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Ave, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Martha's RC Church, Point Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes AssociationDonation2%3Fdf_id%3D4362%264362.donation or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
