The launch was planned for Monday, but clouds obscured the viewing area, and the launch was rescheduled, NASA said.

"The June 12 attempt was the sixth for this mission. Previous scrubs have been due to a variety of issues, such as high winds, clouds, and boats in the hazard area," NASA said.

Tuesday's launch is also weather-dependent: the Weather Channel predicts as of Tuesday morning that the forecast shows no sign of hindering the colorful event. The current forecast calls for just a slight chance of showers with some clouds and a low around 71.

The chance of precipitation is 30 percent, according to the National Weather Service.
