Newcomer Leading Point Beach School Board Race: Unofficial Results
Unofficial results have a newcomer leading the race for seat on the school board, and supporters backing council incumbents.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — A newcomer appears to be set to take a seat on the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's election.
Two seats on the Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council, meanwhile, are expected to remain in the hands of the incumbents, the unofficial results show.
Christine Grier, running under the slogan Back to Basics, was leading the school board race with 974 votes, according to the unofficial tallies. Incumbent Sherry M. Finn, who currently serves as president of the school board, received 957 votes, and Joyce A. Popaca, an incumbent and the school board's vice president, received 721.

The results are unofficial until certified by the Ocean County Clerk.
Christopher Mullins, who was seeking election to a one-year, unexpired term, had received 1,201 votes, according to the unofficial results.

In the borough council election, incumbents Douglas Vitale and Arlene Testa, both Republicans, were leading Democrat Ernest "EJ" Geiger by double the votes Geiger received. Vitale had 1,275 votes and Testa received 1,254, while Geiger received 612 votes, according to the unofficial tallies.
