NJ Shore Town Curfews: When Do Your Kids Have To Be Off The Street?

In response to rising problems with large, rowdy crowds of teens, towns are instituting tighter rules and curfews. See the beach town times.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ — "It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?"

While for years that television ad has asked parents that question, these days, it's more than an ad: In towns up and down the Jersey Shore, curfews are in place that require kids under age 18 to be off the streets unless they are with a parent or guardian.

While some beach towns have had curfews in place for years, others have recently enacted them because of issues with hundreds of teens gathering and roaming around, being belligerent, vandalizing property, and getting drunk.

Curious about the curfew where you're visiting? Here's a town-by-town list, from Sea Bright in the north to Cape May in the south, of what time your kids need to be off the streets. Towns have exceptions for teens traveling to or from work, participating in religious activities or sports. While 10 p.m. is a popular time, curfews are not uniform.
