A hazardous weather outlook and coastal flood warning were issued in New Jersey now that Hurricane Chris is moving off the coast.

The National Weather Service is preparing New Jersey for possible impacts and potential "life-threatening" rip currents now that Hurricane Chris is offshore.
A hazardous weather outlook and coastal flood advisory were issued in New Jersey now that the storm is moving off the coast. The storm won't make impact on land, according to the NWS.
The coastal flood advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. until midnight. A hazardous weather outlook was issued along the Jersey Shore and Delaware Bay counties of South Jersey fornminor coastal flooding during the high tide cycles on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

On Wednesday night, there is slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 and 11 p.m.

Here is what is expected:
- TIMING...High tide on the New Jersey oceanfront occurs around 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. High tide on the back bays, and along Raritan Bay occurs later than the high tide on the oceanfront.
- COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor flooding is anticipated around the time of this evening's high tide. Up to one half foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Minor roadway flooding is possible on Long Beach Island, Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant Beach and other locations near Barnegat Bay. Minor roadway flooding is possible for coastal locations in Monmouth County. Minor roadway flooding is possible in Atlantic City, Absecon, Ventnor, and southeastern Burlington County
- WAVES...Wave heights on the ocean waters off the coast are forecast to be 3 to 4 feet.
