Oscar Shorts Day at The ShowRoom on Feb 6 to Feature All Short Films Nominated for 88th Academy Awards(R)

The ShowRoom Cinema of Asbury Park (www.theshowroomap.com), New Jersey’s headquarters for “Oscar Shorts,” is proud to host Oscar Shorts Day on Saturday, February 6. Beginning at 11:15 a.m. and running into the evening, The ShowRoom will screen the 15 short films that are this year’s Oscar® Nominees for Animated Short Film, Documentary Short Film, and Live Action Short Film.

The ShowRoom schedule for Oscar Shorts Day on February 6 is as follows:

· Oscar Shorts Animation (NR). 1:10 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

· Oscar Shorts Documentary Program A (NR). 5:20 p.m.

· Oscar Shorts Documentary Program B (NR). 11:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

· Oscar Shorts Live Action (NR). 11:35 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.

The short films that have been nominated for a 2015 Academy Award®, and will be screened on Oscar Shorts Day, are:

After Oscar Shorts Day on February 6, The ShowRoom will continue running all the Oscar Shorts via an ongoing schedule, through Thursday, February 25, 2016.

“Short films are the pinnacle of the ShowRoom experience,” Sodano notes. “We’re excited about hosting an official ‘Oscar Shorts Day’ at The ShowRoom for the first time. This year’s nominees are incredibly diverse, exploring subjects such as honor killings in Pakistan, the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Vietnam veterans, Afghan-Americans, and nuns living in the West Bank. The ShowRoom is honored to bring such cinematic excellence to Asbury Park.”

Located at 707 Cookman Avenue in the heart of the “Art Bloc,” The ShowRoom Cinema is Asbury Park’s art house cinema. Since its founding by Nancy Sabino and Mike Sodano in 2009, The ShowRoom Cinema has screened the finest independent, documentary, and international films and hosted eclectic live events.

Oscar Shorts Day on February 6 will feature exclusive promotions, raffles, and refreshments at The ShowRoom in addition to all the Oscar Shorts that will run back-to-back. Attendees will receive a ballot for entering their selections for the Oscar Shorts that will win the Academy Award® in each category. Those who guess correctly will be entered into a drawing for a gift to the movies.

Patrons at Oscar Shorts Day also will have the opportunity to participate in the “Name Theater 3” contest. As Sodano explains, “The ShowRoom offers three different theaters under one roof, but Theater 3 is the most intimate, with 15 club chair seats and hassocks. It deserves a special designation. From the Name Theater 3 contest, we will choose our favorite ideas and post them as a Facebook poll, for the final selection. We look forward to seeing what people concoct.”
