Pet License Renewals Due In Point Pleasant

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant residents are reminded that licenses for dogs and cats in the borough must be renewed by Jan. 31.

Licenses are required for dogs and cats 6 months old or older, and the animal must have a valid rabies vaccination through Nov. 1 of the current year in order to license the dog or cat. Written verification of rabies is required.

A new animal in the borough that is at least 6 months old must be licensed within 30 days.

License fees can be paid by credit card with a $3 service fee, by mail, or in person at town hall.

If mailing, send to the Point Pleasant Board of Health, Animal licensing, 2233 Bridge Ave., PO Box 25, Point Pleasant Borough, NJ 08742.

If you are licensing multiple pets, you must include separate checks for each pet.

For those who wish to pay in person, the hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

You must provide written proof that their rabies vaccination is valid through Nov. 1.

If your pets' rabies vaccinations need to be updated, the Ocean County Health Department offers free rabies shots by appointment on Wednesdays, as follows:

• Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, Jackson: 732-657-8086, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
• Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter, Manahawkin: 609-978-0127, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays

The license fees are:

1 year, spayed/neutered, $12; 1 year, non-spayed neutered, $15; 3 year spayed/neutered, $33; 3 year, non-spayed/neutered, $42.

There is a late fee of $5 after Jan. 31. The late fee does not apply to animals newly adopted after Jan. 31.

Three-year licenses require a rabies vaccination valid through Nov. 1, 2025.

Residents may not keep or maintain more than four (4) dogs or cats or a combination of dogs, cats or (1) pot-bellied pig.
