Pirl Family Project Summer 2013

In addition to helping all residents that are eligible for raw building materials, we have adopted a local family in Point Pleasant Beach. Their story touched our hearts, and they are in desperate need of help. The Pirl Family resides on Laurel Ct. in Point Pleasant Beach. Their home, where they currently reside, was damaged by Superstorm Sandy and remains that way today. The Pirl’s suffered substantial damage to their home and sustained three feet of standing water on the property. They are unable to move for many reasons. The Pirl's have four children. Their daughter, Caitlin is twenty-four years old. She was hit by a drunk driver in 2008 the night before Thanksgiving. The drunk driver left the scene of the accident and left Caitlin severely injured in the street. Local authorities were called to the scene of the accident, and Caitlin was rushed to the hospital where she remained in critical condition for months.

Caitlin now suffers from a traumatic brain injury and is paralyzed on the left side of her body. She is confined to a wheelchair. Mr. Pirl and Caitlin go to physical therapy out of state six days a week as well as various other local therapies. These therapies are vital to Caitlin's survival, however the cost of all of Caitlin’s therapies exceeds the Pirl’s annual income. Her medical and therapy bills will only continue to grow as she gets older.

Shore 2 Recover is adopting the Pirl’s for our summer project. We are asking and inviting major corporations, companies, and skilled laborers, to provide all materials and labor, in an effort to help our cause, and to give the Pirl's the gift of a new, safe, and reliable home. Everything donated is tax deductible as we are a 501c3 organization.
