Point Boro School District Maintains Stellar Status

District scores high on New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum

The state Department of Education has decided the Point Pleasant school district is eligible to keep its high performance status for another three years, according to the Ocean Star.

The district scored high on the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) - the DOE’s monitoring and evaluation system for public school districts. The review process takes place over three years.

The review indicators include instruction and programs, fiscal management, governance, operations and personnel.

“To be designated ‘high-performing’ under the QSAC process, districts must score at least 80 percent in each of the five categories,” Superintendent Vincent Smith said. “In the two QSAC cycles that the district has completed since the process began in 2006, we’ve maintained an average score of 96 percent, including perfect scores in the areas of governance and personnel.”

Smith said the consistency of the high scores will allow the district to apply for QSAC’s new equivalency waiver.

The Point Pleasant district is one of the roughly 204 high-performing districts that are eligible for the waiver, which is a more streamlined process.

“Previously, completing the QSAC requirements was a long and rigorous process that required the support and cooperation of the entire school district,” Smith said.
