Panthers win five straight bouts to take control against Matawan

Point Boro's Andrew Matter pinned Matt Morenz in 5:18, and the Panthers won five straight bouts to take control and beat Matawan, 35-22, in the opening round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II team wrestling tournament on Monday night in Point Pleasant.
The Panthers (18-4) got major decisions from Pete Gencarelli (106), Ryan Harter (113) and Dan Nobbs (120) before the Huskies forfeited to Ryan Budzek, the Point Boro sophomore who's having a stellar season for the Panthers.
The Panthers travel to Delaware Valley for the Central Jersey Group II semifinals on Wednesday night.
