Point Boro Wrestlers Knocked Out of Shore Conference Tournament

Point Boro won four straight bouts to take a two-point lead over Manalapan with five bouts to go, but the Braves scored back-to-back pins to take control and oust the Panthers Thursday night from the Shore Conference Wrestling Tournament, 34-27 at Jackson Memorial High School.

Andrew Matter scored a technical fall over Manalapan’s Chris Terraghi at 220, and two bouts later Pete Gencarelli’s decision at 106 sparked the run that gave Point Boro the lead.

Ryan Harter (113), Dan Nobbs (120) and Ryan Budzek (126) were victorious as the Panthers took a 20-18 lead. But pins at 132 and 138 by Manalapan sealed their fate.

The Panthers also received victories from Kevin Kelly (145) and Brandon Cusack (160).
