On Oct. 28, both officers immediately began CPR while hooking up the defibrillator and administered one shock.

After the shock, Cucci's heartbeat was restored and officers continued to administer rescue breaths until first aid and paramedics arrived.

Based on these actions, both officers were awarded with the department's Lifesaving award.

Part-time Dispatcher Megan Palmer took the phone call and maintained her calm composure throughout the call, the department said.

She also coordinated the EMS and paramedics response and regularly updated on Cucci’s condition.

Based on this incident and her role, Palmer received a letter of commendation.
