Point Pleasant Beach To Repeal Motel Eminent Domain: Monday Manual
The borough council meets Tuesday and is set to repeal a 2021 ordinance to take over a motel, as well as expand its public smoking ban.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ— Welcome to the July 5 edition of Monday Manual. Yes, we know it's Tuesday, but here is what the holiday-shortened week has in store in the Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach area.
The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council is set to meet Tuesday night and among the items on the agenda is the public hearing on an ordinance that will repeal the borough's plan to take over the Amethyst Beach Motel by eminent domain.
The motel, which is adjacent to the municipal parking lot on Arnold Avenue, has been fighting the borough's plan since the ordinance to take it over was first introduced in March 2021.

The agenda also includes an ordinance to expand the areas where smoking is prohibited in the borough. The ban, which includes vaping, tobacco, and cannabis, is set to include an extensive list of public areas. That ordinance is set for a public hearing and final vote as well.

The Point Pleasant Beach planning and zoning boards do not meet this week.
In Point Pleasant Borough, the Zoning Board of Adjustment is set to meet Wednesday but the agenda had not been posted before the holiday weekend. The Point Pleasant Borough Council and the planning board are not scheduled to meet this week.
