Point Pleasant Boro Is One Of NJ's 50 Safest Communities: Report

Safewise says the Jersey Shore community is a good place to raise a child and keep them safe.

Point Pleasant Boro was named one of the 50 safest communities in New Jersey, according to a new report.

SafeWise, which provides security consulting and reviews community safety, named the bedroom community to Point Pleasant Beach as the 27th safest town in New Jersey.

Using FBI statistics, SafeWise noted that Point Pleasant Boro, with a population of 18,502, has a violent crime rate (per 1,000 people) of 0.22 and a property crime rate of 8.54.

"If there is one thing the people of New Jersey can lord over their neighbors across the Hudson, it is this: of all the states, the home of the Devils is one of the safest," the report said.

The report cited the most recent data collected by the FBI, which places the state’s overall violent crime right at less than half that of the country’s.

Leading the way for the state were River Vale and Bernards Townships, home to 10,000 and 27,000 respectively, according to the report. Both municipalities went an entire year without a single incident of reported violent crime.
