UPDATE: Point Pleasant Fire Department Mourns The Loss Of Former Chief
Jeffrey Smith died suddenly over the weekend.

Former Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeffrey W. Smith passed away on Saturday, according to a post on the Point Pleasant Fire Company's Facebook page.
"On this Father's Day, it saddens me to report we lost one of our Ex-Chiefs Jeff Smith yesterday," the post states. "Jeff was Ex-Chief of Station 41. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers today especially on this day, Jeff was a loving Husband and Father to his wife and children."
John P. Pasola posted this statement on the Northern Ocean County Chiefs Association Facebook page.

"On behalf of the Northern Ocean County Chiefs Association, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Smith Family and members of Station 75," the post states. " R.I.P. Chief Smith, you will be greatly missed.

Jeffrey W. Smith, 59, of Point Pleasant, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 18, 2016.
Born in Denville to the late Durand and Audrey Smith, he lived in Rockaway, Mount Arlington, Newton, and since 1994 in Point Pleasant.
Jeff worked as an instrument technician for Agfa Corporation, Bridgewater. He also worked as an electrician and boiler operator.
He was a member of Point Pleasant Borough Fire Department and was Ex-Chief of the Point Pleasant Borough Fire Station 41. He was also a member of the Bay Head Fire Department; the Mount Arlington Fire Department, Newton Fire Department, and NJ State Exempt Firemen’s Association.
Jeff served as the Storm Ready Coordinator for the Point Pleasant Borough Office of Emergency Management. He was active with the American Red Cross and recently became a HAM radio operator.
Surviving are his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Karen (Bennington) Smith; son, Timothy Smith of Point Pleasant; and daughter, Heather Coon and her husband Robert of Little Egg Harbor. Also surviving are his sister, Kelly Macalalad; two grandchildren, twins, Blake Harrison and Lorelei Sophia; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 8 p.m. a service will be held.
