Point Pleasant Police Now Wearing Body Cameras

The police department announced all of its officers have been equipped with the cameras.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant police officers responding to incidents will now have their interactions captured on video, as officers are now equipped with body-worn cameras, the department announced.

The cameras were purchased using an $85,596 grant from the state to comply with a statewide mandate requiring all uniformed police officers to wear body cameras on patrol. Fewer than half of the law enforcement agencies in New Jersey had the body cameras before the mandate.

Point Pleasant purchased 42 cameras, which cost more than $2,000 each.
