Point Pleasant Police Ride To Honor Fallen Officer Who Died Almost 90 Years Ago

Several officers will ride in the Police Unity Tour to Washington, DC coming up next week.

Marshall Arnold G. Johnson was killed in the line of duty on July 22, 1928.

But the Point Pleasant Police Department has not forgotten him.

Next Monday, the Police Unity Tour Inc. Chapter 10 - which honors fallen law enforcement officers - will kick off its annual bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington, DC.

The Police Unity Tour Inc. riders will stop at the Point Pleasant Municipal Building at 2 p.m. on May 9. to honor Johnson, who was killed on duty while riding his motorcycle to an emergency, Capt. Robert Lokerson said.

"There will be approximately 500 plus officers from New Jersey along with 105 officers from the west coast participating in the ride, along with 25 security motorcycles, three ambulances, and 30 support vehicles," he said.

The riders will enter the borough via Bridge Avenue eastbound and will leave the borough via Beaver Dam Road southbound. Motorists on Bridge Avenue during this time may experience brief delays. The south side of Edgar Road from Roberts Place to Patterson Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will have no parking restrictions, Lokerson said.

The Point Pleasant Police would like to recognize the following Point Pleasant Police officers for their participation in the chapter 10 police unity tour: Sgt. Brad McNally, Officers Chris Henrich and Richard Otto and retired Sgt. Bob Obsuth.
